What was it used for?

Printing was used in China many ways, but it is hard to think of all of them. They used it pretty much the same way we did, for example, communication. It was used for transporting messages to other people who understood their way of writing and language... in other words, mail. People also used it for printing books, documents, news, and magazines.

Fun Fact: The oldest book that survived was, The Diamond Sutra, printed in the year of 868 found in the Dunhuang Caves along the Silk Road. The book, in the form of a roll, is the earliest woodcut illustration in a printed book.
